چکیده

Methods The EVASTENT study is a matched multicenter cohort registry of 1,731 patients undergoing revascularization exclusively with sirolimus stents; for each diabetic patient included (stratified as singleor multiple-vessel disease), a nondiabetic patient was subsequently included. Patients were treated with aspirin clopidogrel for at least 3 months and were followed for 465 (range 0 to 1,062) days (1-year follow-up in 98.5%). The primary end point was a composite of stent thrombosis (according to Academic Research Consortium definitions), cardiovascular death, and nonfatal myocardial infarction (major adverse cardiac events [MACE]).

Impact of sirolimus-eluting stents on outcome in diabetic patients: a SIRIUS (SIRolImUS-coated Bx Velocity balloon-expandable stent in the treatment of patients with de novo coronary artery lesions) substudy.

BACKGROUND Randomized clinical trials have shown that a sirolimus-eluting stent significantly reduces restenosis after percutaneous coronary revascularization. Diabetic patients are known to have a higher risk of restenosis compared with nondiabetic patients. The purpose of this analysis was to determine the impact of sirolimus-eluting stents on outcomes of diabetic compared with nondiabetic pa...

Randomized comparison of sirolimus-eluting stent versus standard stent for percutaneous coronary revascularization in diabetic patients: the diabetes and sirolimus-eluting stent (DIABETES) trial.

BACKGROUND Outcomes after percutaneous coronary interventions in diabetic patients are shadowed by the increased rate of recurrence compared with nondiabetic patients. METHODS AND RESULTS We conducted a multicenter, randomized trial to demonstrate the efficacy of sirolimus-eluting stents compared with standard stents to prevent restenosis in diabetic patients with de novo lesions in native co...

Long-term outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with and without diabetes mellitus in Western Denmark.

Patients with diabetes mellitus have worse outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention than patients without diabetes mellitus. We compared the risk of stent thrombosis, myocardial infarction, death, and target lesion revascularization in diabetic and nondiabetic patients after implantation of drug-eluting stents or bare metal stents. In the Western Denmark Heart Registry, 12,347 consecut...

Background: Cardiovascular diseases alone have become the leading cause of death worldwide. One of the treatment methods cardiovascular disease is angioplasty. This study aimed to investigate the clinical results after coronary artery angioplasty, based on the incidence of major cardiovascular events with emphasis on stent types. Methods: In this retrospective cross-sectional study, the preval...

Very Late Stent Thrombosis 42 Months after Implantation of Sirolimus-Eluting Stent and Discontinuation of Antiplatelet Therapy

Although safety profiles of sirolimus-eluting stents do not seem to differ in short-to-medium term from those of bare-metal stents, late stent thrombosis after deployment of drug-eluting stents has emerged as a potential safety concern in the era of high-pressure stent implantation. Here, we describe the case of a patient with acute myocardial infarction due to stent thrombosis of a sirolimus-e...
